Realizzazione
Il lavoro con i Tarocchi-Working with Tarot
La modernità dell'opera, privata del suo valore fideistico, mi ha spinto a curiosare tra le sue incisioni e i capitoli scritti. Per realizzare il mazzo ho cosí approfondito le descrizioni delle singole satire connesse alle relative incisioni. Dopo molte riflessioni, dubbi e ripensamenti, ho scelto le 22 incisioni che ritengo piú attinenti agli Arcani Maggiori (sia per immagine che per il testo descrittivo). Dopo una pulitura del disegno originale e una colorazione delle immagini con tinte a pastello, ho rielaborato al computer ogni singola immagine per ottimizzarne i colori, creando uno stultifero mazzo di Tarocchi!
The Stultifera Navis's modernity, deprived of its creed value, led me to look through its engravings and chapters. To realize the deck I have thus deepened the descriptions of the single satires related to the respective engravings. After many reflections & doubts, I chose the 22 engravings that I find most relevant to the Major Arcana (both image and descriptive text). After cleaning the original design and the coloring the images with coloured pencils, I redrafted every single image to the computer to optimize the colors, creating a stultifero Tarot deck!
STULTIFERA NAVIS - DAS NARRENSCHIFF
112 brevi satire in dialetto alsaziano compongono il poema satirico-didattico La nave dei folli (Carnevale 1494, tradotto in latino con il titolo Stultifera navis nel 1497; in tedesco il titolo fu Das Narrenschiff) concepita da Sebastian Brant (1457/8-1521), autore rigorosamente legato alla fede e a Roma, centro perfetto della Chiesa, dell'Impero e di tutte le arti.
Secondo Brant, siamo tutti folli, per cui leggendo questi passi chiunque può riconoscersi, capire i propri difetti e lasciare cadere il velo dell'illusione in cui si vive per rifuggire il malvagio, da sempre presente nell'essere umano
From Wikipedia: Ship of Fools (Modern German: Das Narrenschiff, Latin: Stultifera Navis, original medieval German title: Daß Narrenschyff ad Narragoniam) is a satyrical allegory in German verse published in 1494 in Basel, Switzerland, by the humanist and theologian Sebastian Brant. It is the most famous treatment of the ship of fools trope and circulated in numerous translations.
According to Brant, we are all fool, reading these satires everyone can recognize himself, understand his faults and let the veil of the illusion fall and escape the bad manners, always present in the human beings.
